About this pattern

Sempervivum, "always alive" in Latin, is the houseleek: a hardy succulent that grows in tight rosettes. On the socks, the rosettes sit in a half-drop, and every eyelet has its decrease on the outside, so each ring stays open and round.

The sole, the heel and the toe stay plain, so the socks are comfortable in shoes. The heel is a gusset, a heel turn in German short rows and a heel flap in slipped-stitch heel stitch that uses up the gusset stitches. The rosettes are symmetrical, so both socks are knitted the same.

A foot table tells you where to start the chart for any foot length from 20 to 28 cm, so the rosettes line up with the heel whatever your size.

Sizes

Choose the size by the circumference of your foot around the ball. The sock is a little smaller than the foot, so it fits snugly, and the lace stretches. The foot length is up to you.

Questions

What does beta mean?

Sempervivum has been checked stitch by stitch in software (every chart round, every written round, the toe, the gusset, the heel turn and the flap), but no sample pair has been knitted yet. Knit the swatch first. If anything doesn't add up, write to [email protected]. When the tested version is ready, Payhip sends it to you for free.

Is there help while I knit?

Yes. The row-by-row companion shows every row of your size on the chart and spells it out in English or Polish. You unlock it with the code printed in the PDF.

Is this a finished pair of socks?

No. This is a digital PDF pattern for you to knit yourself. Nothing is posted to you.

How do I get the pattern?

Right after payment you can download the PDFs, and Payhip also emails you a download link. The email comes from Payhip, so check your spam folder if you don't see it.

Can I get a refund?

The pattern is delivered instantly, so the right of withdrawal ends once the download is available. If a file is faulty or doesn't match its description, we will send a corrected file or refund you. See the terms of sale.

Can I sell what I make?

Yes, you can sell socks you knit by hand from this pattern. Please don't share or resell the PDF itself.
